From 6 until 13 April 2019, I followed along with my colleagues in the Executive MBA the Changing World module at MSM with classes in Change Management delivered by Dr. Geert Heling and classes in Leadership and Organizational Behavior by Dr. Stephanie Jones.
Change Management
Change has become a constant factor in today’s business world. Organizations globally and domestically constantly have to adapt to their external environment as well as make changes to their internal organization. The Change Management course by Dr. Heling provided me with the understanding and knowledge of the major principles underlying successful change management initiatives. The course also prepared me for the challenges of leading organizational change and renewal.
Leadership and Organizational Behavior
The class by Dr. Stephanie Jones addressed the connection between Leadership and Organizational Behavior. During this course, I explored topics like leadership roles and team leadership styles. Useful insights were given about the impact of the leader on an organization’s culture and change, and the influence of personality differences. To better understand, evaluate and apply the topics, I prepared a written reflective journal which you can also read in this website under the Publications section.
A case study from the 2003 Gulf War
A guest lecture by MSM Director of Education and Executive Development, Mr. Dave Cass, challenged us as a leader and mentor. A case study from the 2003 gulf war was used to assess how good business analysis, decision-making and the application of leadership and management principles can be applied to a non-standard environment.
